About

A modern Trattoria
with A Rustic Soul

A spirited, bar-driven restaurant serving rustic Italian fare with modern sensibilities, Tratto means the stroke of a pen in Italian, a nod to the neighborhood’s artistic history. A flavorful menu of simple, delicious and shareable dishes coupled with casual, communal-style dining creates a neighborhood bar experience inspired by the Italian happy hour tradition of "aperitivo."  Dishes such as house-made pastas and sausages, pizza, seasonal vegetables and seafood are prepared with as little manipulation as possible, ranging from slow-cooked braises to "à la minute" cuisine. Our full bar features traditional Italian cocktails with a twist, house-made Italian Sodas and limoncellos, and beer and wine sourced from the best of the West Coast and Italy.

Ola Fendert, Executive Chef

Chef Ola Fendert leads our kitchen with a culinary prowess achieved by working with mentor Alain Rondelli and by way of executive posts at some of San Francisco’s most reputable establishments, including the opening teams at Chez Papa and Chez Maman, and Scala’s Bistro where he performed under Donna Scala. Ola’s approach to the artful blending of cuisines perfectly suits Tratto’s melding of Italian and rustic-Californian fare. A seasoned Bay Area culinary devotee by way of his Native Sweden, Chef Ola commands with humility and is dedicated to the success of our Tratto famiglia, both ingredients for success beyond the plate.

Cynthia Tran, Beverage Director

Cynthia brings a high level of energy and creativity to Tratto's robust bar program. Guests are invited to enjoy traditional Italian cocktails “with a twist,” as well as bottled cocktails, Italian cream sodas, and a housemade limoncello program. Also featured are carefully selected  West Coast and Italian beers and a curated program of wines from Italy and California, some of which are available on tap, and by the "jug."
